So the first point would be 'Spending time ALONE with God EVERYDAY'....
This does not include church or in life groups....
The reason why you need to be alone is because it is away from any distractions. Some things to describe being alone.
1. Shut off the computer/laptop
2. Don't even think about answering the handphone. Be it sms/calls from friends or parents
3. Off the radio. Even if it is Christian music, you tend to just drift away sometimes. With a flick of a button.
4. Don't be on the bed. You WILL tend to sleep.
5. Of course, be alone. You don't want your 9 year old brother disturbing you.
So some examples I will give about people leaving aside their time with God and some comments about them.
Luke 5:5-16
"...But Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed."
-Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and pray.
-Isn't Jesus God? Doesn't that exlude him from praying? He still did that because he is in a human form on earth.
-He made it a part of his lifestyle
-Even with many demands and him even saying his time is nearly up, he still set aside time.
Daniel 6:10
"Now when Daniel learned that the decree had been published, he went home to his upstairs room where the windows opened toward Jerusalem. Three times a day he got down on his knees and prayed, giving thanks to his God, just as he had done before."
-Didn't Daniel heard of the degree that those who do not worship the king would be thrown into the lion's den? Well, he still prayed no matter what consequences he faced.
-Daniel didn't only prayed once a day but three times a day. How much time do we set aside for God?
-Daniel still gave thanks and didn't pray why did he had to face the problem.
So we have learnt how to spend time with God. Now what do we actually do when spending time with God? Well, besides praying and asking God for stuffs, we should also wait on him and listen for what he wants.
Isaiah 40:31
"...but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint."
If there was a person whom you personally like (boyfriend, girlfriends, bands, singers and etc.), you would actually take time off to have a chat with them. But how often do we actually take time off like how we take time off with people to actually spend time with God? Sometimes we think that we know so much but do we actually practice those things that we know?
